Restraint Makes the Champ

If restraint is what makes the Champ,
then I am equally the winner.

If silence blares the loudest amp,
then my thoughts protect a sinner.

My heart inclines the upward ramp,
growing stronger, though the air thinner.

To hurt is not my end, to heir or tramp,
or even to be the only winner.

An open hand with friendship's stamp
was the relationship's beginner,

And remains the dim but glowing lamp
by which I take upon the duty of mender.
