Elizabeth Barrett and Robert Browning,
We read their bonds of attraction,
but can we really feel their passion
unless we choose to tell our longing?

Something made me know you,
and I recognized your voice,
and, what fate, it is my joy
that amidst chaos I did not lose you.

Your voice, your soul,
When I feel you, I am at peace,
Need nothing else to ease,
'We are' is all I need to know.

Trust; you knew I would be broken -
though not so bruised, so hurt,
by too many senseless others;
In the end remains your loving token.

You've only asked one thing of me,
I promise still,
You know my will,
Not for debt - for love, my all for thee.
