Just Poems...
These are just poems, nothing else. Just poems.
1.
Been thinking,
how neither of us like to fight,
but you always say
you fight because you love me,
or you would stand back,
let me go
like you let her go,
but you love me,
so you fight yourself,
the things you know that I know,
the life you don't want me to know,
because you love me...
3.
You hide, I flaunt,
I chase, you taunt,
My open book, your deception
Leave us both to want.
We are only ours to lose,
Each day we choose
Not peace, but our weapon,
Never achieving more than truce.
What do you give me but reminders
that I was not good enough,
better than anything you ever had,
5.
Stop complaining
that you deserve better,
when all I ever hear is
"Please,
Don't leave me,
I love you
More than I have ever loved anyone.
I need you.
Give me one more chance.
Please?"
I must love you
More than I have ever loved anyone,
because I know you,
and I keep on giving you
One more chance.
Jealous of me, you explained
why you beat me so...
When I know others whose inner beings
I admire,
I long for them,
they give me reason to aspire,
Not more reason to self-hate.
Never asked you to not be
humorous,
adorable,
sweet,
Just to stop giving it all away,
leaving no food for me
to eat.
Please, please...
(sob)
You behave as though I
lack the right
To point out our deficiencies,
As though my belief
in your potential,
my attempts to fight
For us--
(whimper)
You refuse to see
The man in your mirror,
an adolescent mirage.
You still see who you wish to see.
For my efforts,
You spit on me,
On us.
You ensure your fantasy image
lives on
At our expense.
Your selfish pretense.
7.
I dance to the rhythm
Of the turning world.
As grey morning
Becomes
A golden day,
A harp is born along the wall;
It's strings lengthen
Until a midday crescendo,
Then slowly fade
Into a lullaby.
Pulls out her harp,
Sleeping colors awaken
To golden melodies
9.
Your tentative question,
Can she crawl under my blanket?
She did come to see me...
Incredible.
A bewildered 'no' floats from my lips
And lands a puzzle on your face.
Am I to forget she was also there
to tell you where she was buying
the men's shirts?
Played her music so loud,
As if I were tone deaf.
I tried to be,
Said proudly, like a blushing bride,
That we had renewed our vows.
All one motion,
hands slapped her lap as she stood;
I had not meant to slap her face.
She decreed you buy yourself
"A paper Burger King crown
and a matching tiara for _____."
Said my name,
gestured a nod in my direction,
As if I were blind...
A crystal tear 'no' escaped my heart,
colllided with your wall.
Your lying lips agreed,
Began throwing
My other friends
under the same bus.
I want to throw myself
under there, too,
find some peace
from your double dealings.
into begging for your love
and believing your stories?
Would you strip me and beat me?
Would you laugh while I struggled
to rise from my fall?
Would you push me back down
when I tried to get up?
you made on the bridge?
Would you rather save yourself
from the truth
than save us?
Would you?
The body is willing.
Love versus hate versus apathy
revolve in a deadly bitter triangle.
You cannot give,
I cannot leave,
So we grieve.
the sympathy
too much to face the truth.
For glimpses of your love,
I remain.
You make me Laugh.
I love You.
Hurry Home.
It's Friday,
and I'm Horny.

He still thinks
she is after one thing;
She is after many,
of which what he thinks
is the least.
Sidetracks,
tangents,
mystical lights,
they all derail him, her,
sometimes;
He derails her,
sometimes;
But she does not stay,
is not thrown too far;
She stands back up,
Alone,
Reaches back,
trying to drag him
trying to keep him
from being sucked down
into the blended in,
dangerous, lying, deceitful,
entrapping quicksand.
He always looks back,
like maybe he forgot something,
maybe he didn't want to leave it
for her.
Tempted to leave him,
She thinks past herself,
thinks past her jealousy,
her own fears and doubts,
her selfishness,
and loves him.
He kept his heirloom,
a silver glass rose,
yellow gold trim,
in a glass display
case, Never took it
out for fear it would
be bent, scratched,
or broken. For
years,
the
rose
felt

1.
My love for you inevitable
as we are tied strings
playing the same song
in two different colors;
I reflect on your stoic lyrics
with the ears of a kindred spirit
dancing a slow, dreamy waltz
to jasmine harmonies.
2.
Your eyes tell the story I read
long before,
the same depth,
the same passion,
the same aptitude for my being,
the same solitude,
the same longing;
Fill your longing with me...
3.
How we found each other
is one story,
but how we keep each other
is the story I hope never ends.
4.
How can I lose if we are?
*This is about love, in case anyone
just doesn't get that.

Stronger than ever, my love for you,
surviving battles so thick
the ammo gone, bayonets left
Hearts trump spades,
and I see only diamonds in your eyes
as we lay down our mallets
Arms weary from swinging now rest
around your sore shoulders,
easing the aches, soaking in comfort
I kiss your cheek, your neck, your hair,
smelling the familiar,
tasting the known,
finding myself in you
Your sweet smile fills my heart,
and I know how lucky I am
to be this close to you,
and you let me love you
Each breath thereafter was painted
The color of life saved, though tainted. ("by _____" --you fill in the blank.)
With life owed each in every step,
Forever to carry their debt,
Unspoken debt for redemption.
Respect, trust allowed an exemption.
Marks carved upon each others' bones,
Cut with honor by blunted stones.
A humble vow, a shared disgrace,
They descended a lowly place.
But then they shared a sacred toll,
Courage to lift each others' soul.
What is cannot be not
anymore than thoughts can be unthought
or hard lessons be untaught
than evening shadows uncast, startling discoveries unfound
truths unveiled remasked, pivotal moments rewound
sacred oaths unsworn, first kisses unsavored
children unborn, selfless acts unlabored,
blessed infants unchristened, false fortunes untold
new moons unrisen, desperate souls unsold
bewitching charms unconjured, pendulums unswayed
blazing touches unfelt, broken hearts unbetrayed
stories unimagined, Shakespeare's sonnets unsung
ideas unfashioned, Hemingway's tolls unrung
timid glances unstolen, ardent lusts unsimmered
familiar bodies unbeholden, shameful secrets unwhispered
brisk mornings unbroken, past days rehoured
regretful words unspoken, virtuous maidens reflowered
doors reopened, fruits untasted
lives relived, lives unwasted
rains undropped
ends of lives unstopped...
Un dÃa
La RÃa
quizá esculpa un cÃrculo
al arroyo de que fluyó.
En este momento quiere desembocarse
en el océano.
One day
The River
may sculpt a circle
to the stream from which she flowed.
For now, she seeks to flow
into the ocean.
*In Spanish, 'the river' is usually masculine, but I changed it to feminine as I did La Cuerpa (The Body) in In The Tomb . It is more difficult to feminize nouns in English without adding too many undesired words.
con mi corazón divino,
de compartir poemas
y besos rojos de vino;
Aprendemos la cueca
y nos amamos sin duda
en el paÃs de poetas,
de Mistral y Neruda;
Me da empanadas
con tus dedos cariñosos,
la boca te disfruta,
te doy uvas de mis labios;
En las olas verdes
de amor, nos perdemos;
En las arenas de oro,
nos descubrimos;
En confianzas azules,
nos protegemos;
